2013: Year of the Scandal?!

If you like scandals, then the last couple weeks have been your time to party! With the Manti Te’o debacle and the A-Rod/BioGenesis situation, not to mention Lance Armstrong seemingly slipping under the scandal radar, you could not have asked for a better start to 2013. Then, Ryan Braun said, why stop now? Our old familiar friend who narrowly escaped a 50-game suspension due to faulty procedures is now back in the spot light and connected to the BioGenesis lab that has produced ‘roiders like Bartolo Colon, Melky Cabrera and Alex Rodriguez.

Now before we jump to conclusions on Braun using, he did release the following statement (According to ESPN), “During the course of preparing for my successful appeal last year, my attorneys, who were previously familiar with Tony Bosch, used him as a consultant,” Braun said in his statement. “More specifically, he answered questions about T/E ratio and possibilities of tampering with samples.”

While the details are sketchy, which is usually the case with steroid stories, the only thing we can be sure of is that we can’t be sure of anything. Baseball was supposed to be past the age of steroid usage but still finds itself as stuck in the 90’s as a Backstreet Boys fan.

Flacco getting all Wacco

flaccoIn what world do people honestly think that Joe Flacco deserves more money than Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning? This is a guy that posted two QBR ratings lower than any other quarterback this year, THAT INCLUDES MARK SANCHEZ. Flacco’s resume is nice, its heavy in the playoff portion, which will inevitably help push his contract upwards towards 20 mil/year, but there is no way he exceeds it, right? I’ll tell you what, if he wins another Super Bowl and pulls down another MVP to go along with it, then you can make an argument, but you better be prepared to include Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning as well because they both have two rings as well.

Ole’ Miss domination on signing dayole mis

Who saw this coming? Ole’ Miss comes out with the #1, #5 and #24 prospect in the nation? The same school that finished 7-6 and 3-5 in conference play? Oh and honestly, why the heck has signing day become this huge, national spectacle? These are high school kids, most of them will flameout once they get on campus and realize what college parties are all about. There is no reason to devote an entire day to jacked-up, football jocks signing their name on a piece of paper and then putting on a hat the wrong way.

Jaguars are looking more intimidating… oh wait, that’s just their logo, nevermind nfl_jaglogo_gb1_300

This may be a day late but the Jacksonville Jaguars revealed their new logo and I must say, I approve. I also heard they are spending upwards of 50 million in stadium upgrades to accommodate the 500 people who actually show up to games. Now all they have to do is find some players who know what football is.
